Non believers of what? Are we referring to the fact everyone's a bit skeptical about Rev Run's 15 year old son picking up the mic and deciding to be a rapper at the drop of a hat. Or are we reffering to being not so convinced by the services offered by the giants that be AT&T? I'm really confused, but at least Diggy's smiling.

Rappers and Phones, Pea’s in a Pod
Posted by: noreply@blogger.com (ItsTheLeak)
Remember that post where Drake was nattering on about his new fangled Blackberry Torch that "Integrates all the Social Networks." Well he's not the only rapper to have been picked up by a telecommunications company. Diggy Simmon's, oops I mean Daniel Dwayne Simmons III is the latest, he's been bought endorsed by AT&T, to do what I don't know , I think he's been hired to "Convert the non-believers."

Rap Genius - A one stop mapping system for Hip Hop lyrics
Posted by: noreply@blogger.com (Shaun Savage)

The RapMap is an integrated guide through the history of Hip Hop powered by Google maps, brought to you by the blog Rap Genius. What they've done is analyse the lyrics of every major rap record in the genres canon of work and mapped notable locations quoted within.
This is quite an impressive artefact and will only grow given that the website contains a suggestion tab to get involved with your own esoteric name drops and props; as it should seeing as Baltimore doesn't have a single reference at the time of writing.
Another good example of technological reappropriation for research and documentation. Given the globalisation of hip-hop (yawn) I would be great to see where this goes with respect to our own London Grime scene(s) and the burgeoning movements in Japan, Brazil, France etc. -

Facebook Places
Posted by: noreply@blogger.com (ItsTheLeak)
Okay so you guys know about FourSquare right? No....ok, well in short its a social networking app that lets you virtually "check in" into a particular venue or establishment. Every time you "check in" you earn yourself some nice goodies in the form on points, no wait tokens. The more you get the better, because you can start getting discounts from the owners of whatever greasy kebab joint or questionable public house you choose to frequent. Decent right.
Now Bait Book [Facebook keep up] has jumped on this location sharing bandwagon, and have added the ability to check in at shops, clubs and bars. Cool right...no. Shite, because similar to the photo's on Facebook you can tag your "friends" in places without their permission. So imagine you told your boss you wont be able to make into work due to excruciating stomach pains that really don't exist. Only for your genius mate to tag you in Starbucks or some other shitty coffee chain and your boss cottons on...you're pissed.
Some say FBP [Facebook Places, what did I say about keeping up] will destroy FourSquare because people already have their network of friends on their existing profiles, and won't want to go through the hassle of adding people all over again.
Shaun Savage calls me a Social Media hor or something to that effect, but I don't see myself using any of these applications, if you want to find me you can ring me, text me, email me, or ping me. Furthermore I don't like the notion of you knowing my local haunts, what if I'm avoiding you.
